Is your community taking action on active transportation or transit? Have you completed retrofits on community facilities, explored waste heat opportunities or supported green waste recycling? District energy or biomass heating? Energy efficient new buildings and neighbourhoods? Electric vehicles? Are you working with school districts, health authorities or educational institutions on energy related projects?
For 18 years the Climate & Energy Action Awards have recognized the efforts of small and large communities across BC to reduce energy use and costs and decrease greenhouse gas emissions. Awards will be presented by a Provincial Minister at the Union of BC Municipalities Convention in Victoria in September 2016. This year, winners and honourable mentions will also be profiled in the December 2016 edition of Municipal World magazine.
Applications close on Monday, July 18 at 5:00 PM. Apply now and receive the recognition your community deserves. Find out more by clicking on the invitation and short application form below.
Awards are offered in three categories:
- Community planning and development
- Corporate operations
- Partnerships between provincial public sector organizations and local governments
Past winners have come from communities of all sizes — the demonstration of leadership in overcoming resource challenges is carefully considered by the independent judging panel.
The Climate & Energy Action Awards are co-sponsored by Community Energy Association, Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, BC Hydro, Union of BC Municipalities and FortisBC.
